Dennis (James) Asplin passed away at the age of 84 on November 14, 2025, at Lakehouse Assisted Living in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, while under the care of Brighton Hospice. He was born on September 17, 1941, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to James and Ester Asplin. Throughout his life, Dennis exemplified the values of hard work, loyalty, and dedication to family.
On September 2, 1961, he married Marion Bonn, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage and raised three children in Cedarburg. Dennis was an engaged parent, supporting his children's participation in high school and collegiate sports including wrestling, baseball, and cheerleading.
Following a career spanning more than four decades at MW Kasch Company and subsequent years with Elsworth Adhesive, Dennis retired and dedicated time to his interests. He participated in both couples' and men's bowling leagues, qualifying for several state tournaments. A passionate supporter of Wisconsin sports teams—Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers—he also actively engaged in fantasy football leagues, achieving three championships. It was always a good week when he played his son or son-in-law…and won! Dennis also enjoyed landscaping, fishing, and travel.
He valued time spent with both immediate and extended family and will be remembered for his sense of humor, storytelling, and enduring spirit.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Marion Asplin; their children and spouses: Scott (Renell) Asplin, Tim (Jayne) Asplin, and Lisa (Matt) Hirst; and grandchildren Jake Asplin, Holly Daul, Megan Theisen, Jordan Asplin, Taylor Hirst, Jaden Asplin, Cody Asplin, and Colby Hirst.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ester Asplin; his sister, Darlene Daley; and his parents-in-law, Herbert and Teresa Bonn.
Funeral services will be held on December 5, 2025, at Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and services commencing at 11:00 AM. Immediate family will proceed to the cemetery for final respects.
