Leon George Kober, age 89, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at the Samaritan Center in West Bend, WI. He was born on May 26, 1936 in West Bend to George and Benetta (née Barnes) Kober, the first of 4 children, the others being Dale, Peter and Lynn. Leon married his love, Karen Engeldinger on June 12, 1976 at the Holy Redeemer Church in Two Rivers, WI and they were blessed with 4 children. Leon was active in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis. He enjoyed working for the West Bend Company for over 40 years. He loved to putter around in his yard and in his gardens. Leon loved to talk to people and never met a stranger.
Leon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen; his beloved children: Gregory S. (Maureen), Valerie L. Strickler, Christopher L. and Victoria M. (Tony) Schnapp; adored grandchildren: Robert (fiancé Jessica) and Joey (Brittany) Strickler, Clarissa and Jacob Kober and Owen Schnapp; sister Lynn (Larry) Koziel; siblings-in-law: Gwen (Peter) Kober, Richard and John Engeldinger and Kathryn Roller. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dale and Peter; sisters-in-law Mary Kober, Jane Engeldinger, Eunice Engeldinger and brothers-in-law Edward Roller and John Bieri.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Holy Angels Catholic Church (138 N 8th Ave. West Bend, WI 53095) with Fr. Howard Haase presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, April 6th from 9:00am until 10:45am. Military Honors will follow Mass at church. Private family interment at Washington County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Washington County Humane Society (3650 WI-60 Trunk, Slinger, WI 53086), Puppyland Humane Society (3456 CTH-D, West Bend, WI 53090) or to a charity of choice.
