Obituary

Ellis Arthur Mason (Art), 77, of West Bend, WI peacefully passed away on March 19, 2026, at Heritage Health Services in Port Washington, WI, the day before his 78th birthday. Art was born in Burlington, WI to the late Ellis P. Mason and Lenore H. (nee Schneider) Mason on March 20, 1948.

He attended Washington High School in Germantown, WI. In October 1965 he enlisted in The United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal after sustaining wounds received in Vietnam on April 7, 1966. In addition, Art received: The Rifle Marksman's Badge, The National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal and The Presidential Unit Citation and was honorably discharged.

Art spent the majority of his working career as a cross-country semi-truck driver. His final job was with the United States Post Office before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with family and hanging out with his friends. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, trap-shooting and helping on friend's farms. He was a lifetime member of The Newburg Sportsman Club.


Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his sister, Claudia (Allen) Benicke of Plymouth, WI; Brother in Law ;Kenneth Krahn of Fond Du Lac,WI, daughter, Jennifer Mason of West Bend, WI; son, Michael (Amy) Mason of Vancouver, WA; Grandchildren, Mackenzie Janisch-Mason of Dallas, TX; Kristina Mason of Jackson, WI; Lucas Mason of Vancouver, WA; Cameron Mason of Jackson, WI; great grandson, Quinton Neal of Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Kevin Mason; his parents Ellis P. and Lenore H. (Nee Schneider) Mason; Sisters, Roberta Dehling, Valerie Hall, Camille Krahn; Infant sister Victoria; Brother James Mason; Brothers-In-Law; Milton Dehling and Lawrence Hall.

A funeral service will be held in remembrance of Art at Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI on Monday, April 6, 2026. Visitation with family and friends will be from 10 am to 12 pm. Father Mark Jansen of Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate a service from 12 pm to 12:30 pm with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, WI at 2:30 pm.
