William A. Joers, age 85, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, June 4, 2015. He was born on October 26, 1929 to William and Rose (nee Hoffmann) Joers.

William was proud to serve his country as a Marine Infantryman in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Marines he became a Milwaukee Police Officer. After 33 dedicated years, he retired as Detective Captain. William was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors. He was a member of the American Legion Post number 483 and the Geezer Gander Club.

William is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth (nee Haug); children William (Deborah), Scott, Daniel (Linda); grandchildren Shelley (Tim) Wick, Andy (Alison), Kristi, Gary and Brian; great-grandchildren Danny, Sam and Josephine; brother-in-law Walter Scheidemann. Further survived by other relatives and friends. William is preceded in death by his parents, sister June and sister-in-law Phyllis.

A Funeral Service will be held at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 7:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment and Military Honors will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hartford on Wednesday June 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
