Waldemar "Wally" H. Voigt, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, surrounded by family, at Cedar Community in West Bend. He was born on August 25, 1932 in Jackson, WI to Edwin and Alma (nee Kannenberg) Voigt. He was made a child of God on September 11, 1932 and confirmed in his faith on April 14, 1946. He married Vivian V (Gay) on May 14, 1955. He was blessed to find love again and married Virginia (Frei/Getka) on July 7, 2008.
Wally loved sharing the news of his Savior in all that he did. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Wally was one of the founding fathers of Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, member of the WELSmen, member of the Board of Regents at Wisconsin Lutheran College. He enjoyed serving WELS Institutional ministry in their prison ministry.
Wally is survived by his children Paul (Lisa) Newburg, WI, Beth (Jon) Behnke, San Diego, CA, Krista (Barry) Preston Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Megan (Jason) Weis, Emily (Pablo) Ortiz, Zachary Voigt, Joshua Behnke, Kristina Behnke, Miya Preston, Jackson Preston, Spencer Preston, Chloe (Dominic) Spenner; great grandchildren Adriana, Emersyn Weis, Izabella, Gabriel Ortiz; wife Virginia (Getka) Voigt; step-children Marge (John) Flanagan, Donna (Prof. Brian) Dose, Tom (Laurie) Getka, Gail Getka, Rev. James (Naomi) Getka; 17 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wally is preceded in death by his first wife Vivian, his parents, his sister Leona Heidtke, and many other relatives.
The Funeral Service will be at 2:00PM on Saturday, June 3, 2017 held at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church (623 Congress St. Newburg, WI 53060) with Pastor Kurt Schaser presiding. Visitation will be at church from 10:00AM until the time of the service (2:00PM). Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
