Obituary

Virginia Helen Mann, age 94, of West Bend, was welcomed home on Thursday August 7, 2014. Virginia was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 21, 1919. She graduated from Riverside High School. She trained to assist in watchmaking at Kapp's Jewelry Store on old North Third Street in Milwaukee. Her fine script was put to good use to engrave fine jewelry for the Boston Store. She worked at Briggs and Stratton, AC Electronics during the Apollo Program years and was the manager of sick room supply and retired from Badger Meter.
Virginia's faith journey always combined music with her love for God and family and friends. She served as the Children's Choir Director for twenty five years while a member at North Presbyterian church In Milwaukee. She sang solos with the adult choir and for family weddings. She joined Fifth Avenue Methodist Church in West Bend in the early 1980's and in her later years a member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Slinger. She continued Bible study and services provided at Cedar Bay Assisted Living.
Volunteering and giving back to others was a big part of her daily life. She was active at Lac Lawrann Conservancy, at her church and at the apartment building where she lived in Slinger.
Virginia is the daughter of James and Augusta Kapuscinski. She was preceded in death by her seven sisters and brothers: Helen (Hilbert) Bruss, James (Lucille) Kapp, William (Lorraine) Kapp, George (Adeline) Kapp, Adeline (Stan) Manko, Charles (Evelyn) Kapp, and Richard (Lucy) Kapuscinski. Virginia outlived her first husband Howard Walker, and also her second husband Roman Mann. She is survived by her three children: Sherrill (Fred) Ullius of West Bend, James (Patricia) Walker of Menomonee Falls, Michael (Margaret) Mann of Racine. She treasured her family, especially her ten grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren who filled her life with laughter, songs and more music.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church (799 St. Paul Drive, Slinger). The Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, August 16th from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Pastor Jim Castillo, Phillip Funeral Home and Cedar Bay West Assisted Living staff and residents for all their love and support. Memorial donations can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to Friends of Lac Lawrann Conservancy.
