Vernon E. Prost, age 89, of Jackson, passed away peacefully into Eternal Life on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at The Kathy Hospice. He was born on September 20, 1924, on the family farm in Richfield to August F. and Elsie (nee Jobs) Prost. He met Alice M. Graef at Meeker Hill Dance Hall, and they married on November 27, 1948, at the Dheinsville Christ Church.

Vernon was a lifetime farmer who loved the art of woodworking.

Vernon is survived by his children Vernon A. (Mary Lynn) Prost, Audrey (Eugene) Dettmann, August R. (Christine) Prost and Rita (Victor) Fischer; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 56 years, Alice, and 5 brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church (2881 Division Rd.), Jackson on Sunday, August 24 at 4pm. Visitation will be held at the church from 1pm until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Memorials of your choice appreciated.
