Obituary

Thomas H Werner "Tom" was called home to eternal rest by our Lord and Savior on September 9, 2018.
The third of six children, Tom was born December 27, 1927 in Marshall Wisconsin, his family later moved to Milwaukee. He graduated from Boys Technical High School, served an apprenticeship at The Milwaukee Road Railroad where he studied to become a machinist.
He served in the Army from February 1946 to August 1947. Tom was a talented baseball player and was selected to play 3rd base on the Army baseball team. One of his comments when talking about the army was "when he was drafted all his friends were issued guns he got a baseball bat."
After the service, Tom returned to The Milwaukee Road. He also pursued a career in auto body work, opening his own business "Tom's Auto Body". In 1947 he met the love of his life LaVern Miller. Tom and LaVern were married June 2, 1949 and had 3 children Tom, Verna and Gary.
Vacation time was always enjoyed on Lake Namekagon in Cable, Wisconsin where his father had a cabin, this started his passion for fishing. He bought a boat, named it after his first grandchild "The Stephanie" and fished Lake Michigan. He was a member of the Great Lakes Sport Fisherman Ozaukee Chapter where in addition to fishing privately, he routinely volunteered to take disabled veterans fishing.
Tom had a good life enjoying his time with LaVern. They enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, an annual fly-in Canada fishing adventure, and of course watching the Brewers and Packers.
Those left to cherish memories of Tom include his daughter Verna (Paul) Reindl, son Gary (Danielle) Werner, son Tom (deceased) daughter-in-law Liz Speath-Werner. Grandchildren: Stephanie Parish, Nadalie (Victor) Walsh, Zach (Helen) Werner, Ben Werner, Nick Werner, Craig (Pooja) Werner, and Jenna (Garrett) Brugger. Great grandchildren: Owen and Anna Parish. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife LaVern, son Tom, twin great-grandsons Holden and Theodore, parents Fred and Norma, sister Gladys and brother Harry.
Per Tom's wishes, he will be cremated. There will be a private service with military honors for immediate family only, after which the family will greet relatives and friends at the West Bend VFW Hall for a celebration of his life. Guests are invited to arrive at 4:00 pm, on September 21 at the West Bend VFW Hall, 260 Sand Drive. Food and beverages will be provided.
