Thomas A. Okruhlica, age 78, of Jackson, WI, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2025. He passed in the home he loved so very much—a place filled with memories, hard work, and deep-rooted family pride.
Tom was a devoted father, grandfather, veteran, and farmer whose legacy is deeply rooted in faith, family, and service. He was the beloved son of Alois and Elnore (nee Hillmann) Okruhlica and spent his entire life on the family farm in Jackson, where he found his greatest joy. The land was more than just a place to live—it was the heart of his world and a reflection of his enduring dedication and love for nature.
A lifelong race fan, Tom found pure joy in the roar of engines and the thrill of the track. He was especially proud to support his son Justin, and was a familiar face at Dells Raceway Park and Slinger Speedway, where he loved cheering him on from the stands. The sound of the cars and the energy of race day brought him true happiness, especially when shared with family and friends.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1968, including a tour in Vietnam. During his service, he was honored to be part of the elite HAL-3 Seawolves, a distinguished helicopter attack squadron known for its bravery and commitment. His time in the Navy, particularly as a Seawolf, remained a profound source of pride throughout his life
He is survived by his four children, whom he cherished: Michelle Lehman, Kristin (Chris) Tanner, Jeffrey Okruhlica, and Justin Okruhlica. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Payton Przybyla, Kylie Przybyla, Cooper Przybyla, and Breckin Okruhlica, who were the light of his life. Tom took great pleasure in attending his grandchildren's events—he could often be found in the stands, cheering them on at baseball, basketball, soccer, football, and volleyball games. His pride in their accomplishments and joy in simply being present will be fondly remembered.
Tom also leaves behind his devoted companion, dancing and ping-pong-playing partner, Chung-mei "Sue" Zacher. Together, they shared many joyful years filled with gardening, card games, and a deep, comforting companionship that brought warmth and laughter to each day.
Tom is further survived by his sisters Kathleen McLellan and Lynn (Michael) Ballbach, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Alois and Elnore Okruhlica and a brother-in-law, Donald McLellan.
Tom's strength, quiet wisdom, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and the land he cherished will be dearly missed but forever remembered. His spirit lives on in every furrow of the farm, every card game played, every sideline cheer, and every memory shared.
