Obituary

Thomas "Tom" James Hanson, age 89, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Cedar Community in West Bend. He was born on October 14, 1935 in Racine, WI to Louie and Esther (nee Frederickson) Hanson. Tom grew up in the country areas of Racine, and loved to raise rabbits as a boy. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954-1956, and was later united in marriage with his love, Carol Isbrandt on May 10, 1958. He worked as a lineman for 12 years at the WI Electric Power Company. He and Carol raised their children mainly in West Bend, while then working in construction to build power lines. They moved to Florida later in life for a wonderful 12 years, before coming back home to Wisconsin.

Tom enjoyed many things but mainly including camping and family vacations, being "Mr. Fix-it" and working with his hands, mission trips with the recovery response teams during hurricanes, and many meet ups with bible studies and their church family. Tom and Carol gained more friends that became family through their many home churches over the years, including Still Waters Methodist church in Jackson since being back in WI. His greatest accomplishment was being the BEST sweetheart to his wife, Dad, Grandpa and Gigi-Pa to his family. Always being faithful to them and above all, a great servant to his Lord and Savior.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Carol, of 65 years; children: Bonnie (George) Matakonis, Rick (Jorie) Hanson, and son-in-law Jeff Reuwsaat; grandchildren: Shannon (Tony) Genger, Marcus (Bridgette) Hanson, and Kristen (Ron) Picard; great-grandchildren: David Jensen II, Aidan, Jemma, and step great-granddaughter Taylea; He is further survived by many relatives and friends.

Tom was met in heaven by his granddaughter, Tanya Reuwsaat; his parents Louie and Esther; his brother Jack; and other relatives and friends.

To honor Tom's wishes, he will be placed at the Cedar Community Memorial Gardens on a later date. Any memorials, please direct to Partners in Caring of Cedar Community. A special thank you to the staff of Common Heart Home Health and Hospice and Cedar Community Crossings.

To our sweet Honey/Dad/Grandpa/GigiPa, as Matthew 25:23 states, "Well done good and faithful servant."
