Obituary

Thomas E. Cosgrove, age 92, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Drake University where he met Peggy (nee Wright), and was married January 28, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Tom was proud to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II and he enjoyed a career as manager and distributor in the automobile business for many years.

In his youth, Tom loved all sports, making games at every turn with his brother, sister, classmates and friends. As a college and semi-pro baseball pitcher, he was known for his knuckleball and competitive spirit, and later in life, for his scratch game of golf. Tom loved music, playing sliding trombone in the high school marching band and later in the Butternut Lane party band. In addition to fully embracing his role as a husband and father and fostering a love of family in his own home, Tom served his neighborhood and community in many ways. He was a member of the West Bend Country Club and the Peace United Church of Christ.
Tom was a compassionate and selfless man with a great sense of wit and humor. He had a knack for making fun in the ordinary, finding subtleties in the grand. He was a true gentleman, ever so gentle and kind, especially to those most in need. Tom adored his wife and cherished his family and friends. Throughout his life, Tom found joy, and spread joy near and far.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of sixty six years, Peggy, his children: Catherine McConnell, Janet Cosgrove, James Cosgrove, Carin (Richard) Reddish, Carol (Cass) Grandone, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Violet Cosgrove. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends. Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Thomas and Agnes Ellen, his brother, William and his sister, Dorothy.

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Peace United Church of Christ (343 1st St., Kewaskum, WI 53040) with Reverend J. Eric Kirkegaard officiating. A visitation will precede the service at the church, 10:00-11:30 a.m.

The family would like to extend a warm and gracious thank you to all the gentle caregivers at Timber Cove and Betty's Harbor and to the nursing staff of Serenity Hospice Care, Dr. Michael Mosley and Pastor Kirkegaard for their tender loving care and support.
