Obituary

Sue Rice Wyatt, 86

Sue Wyatt, beloved wife of Jim Wyatt, mother of Amy Cordio (John), David Wyatt (Betsy), grandmother of Matthew Cordio (Alicia), Michael Cordio, Marlo Cordio (Donald), Parker and Connor Wyatt, died peacefully on December 21, 2024. Sue is further survived by beloved family including sister Molly Rice (Bob), Jean (Wyatt) and Howard Rieke, and nieces and nephews. Though she has left our earthly presence, we will carry her close at heart.

Sue and Jim met at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and were married shortly after they graduated in 1960. Sue loved to tell the story of how they met, and that they had been married for over 60 years!

Sue often expressed how grateful she was for Jim, her family, friends, and life experiences. She was a wonderful person, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and we too are so grateful for our lives with her.

Sue was very close with family and played a special role in everyone's life. Each grandchild had a special relationship with "Amu". Amu was always there through the years and loved to share in their experiences, school programs, and activities. More recently Amu loved getting career, travel, school, and life updates, and attending baseball and soccer games.

Sue cherished her friends, near and far.  She enjoyed bridge and mahjong with friends in West Bend and Arizona, and always yoga.  State Tennis League, the West Bend News, dinners and celebrations, Badger games, painting and Cedarburg Plein Air were among the special memories she held close.

She was an avid reader and liked to talk about and share books and recipes. For the past five years she spent mornings reading the New York Times and loved sharing articles and puzzles.

Sue was creative, inspiring and free thinking. Sue loved to create — cooking, art, gardening, and a comfortable home. She cared deeply about people and nature. Sue loved to travel and enjoyed art museums and galleries wherever she went. Sue had an artist's eye as she observed the world around her. Sue's recipes, traditions and love carry on in our grateful hearts.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Mary (McDaniel) Rice, and sister Janet (and Richard) Myhers.

The family gives special thanks to Horizon Hospice and the Lumia Assisted Living Care Team.

A celebration of life will be held at West Bend Country Club on January 17, 2025. Family will visit/greet  from 11:00 a.m. to 12. A program will be held at 12:15, with lunch buffet and fellowship to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Sue's name to Alzheimer's Disease Research (Bright Focus Foundation), Kettle Moraine YMCA, or MOWA.

Love is eternal; the aspect may change, but not the essence
