Steven F. Henning "Fritz", age 60, of Slinger, died on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in Shorewood while refereeing a basketball game, one of his favorite past-times. He was born on January 9, 1955, in Milwaukee to Ronald and Gloria Henning. Steven was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School. He met Karen Adsit and they married on July 12, 1980, in Milwaukee. While looking forward to retirement, he worked at UWM for 28 years and, prior to that, he worked at Pick 'n Save and Kohl's food stores.
Steven was involved in refereeing basketball, football and softball for 36 years. He also enjoyed the water and spent his youth and all of his adult life boating and teaching his family how to waterski and barefoot. Since childhood, Steven has spent a lot of time trapshooting and hunting with his family and later with his children.
Steven is survived by his wife Karen; children Christopher, Lindsey (Dustin) Blevins, Alyssa (Luke) Tennies, Tracy and Jacob; grandchildren Abram Steven Tennies and Cooper Belvins; mother Gloria Henning-Burow; sister Kathleen (Dennis) Wegner; brother Paul (Janeen) Henning; father-in-law Richard Adsit; brother-in-law Brian Adsit and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Henning; his mother-in-law, Violet Adsit; and sister-in-law, Sharon Fleck.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr.), West Bend on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at 3:00PM with Pastor David Kuehl of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran of Muskego presiding. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Funeral Home from 1:00PM until the time of the service.
