Obituary

Steve Auerbach was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His unexpected passing at the age of 75 on November 28, 2025, leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will be held dear by all who knew him.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 8, 1950, Steve relocated with his family to Wisconsin following his father’s job transfer. He graduated from Custer High School in 1968. During his high school and college years, Steve worked at McDonald’s, where he formed a close-knit group of friends known as the “Mac Pac.” These friendships endured throughout his life, and the group remains deeply affected by his passing.
Steve dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Taylor Electric, where he served in various capacities. He also held the position of Controller for other companies until his retirement in 2017. His strong work ethic and unwavering commitment earned him the respect and admiration of both colleagues and friends.
Steve cherished traveling and camping with his wife, Debbie, and their close friends. He also found joy in umpiring high school baseball and softball games on weekends and evenings—a pursuit encouraged by a close friend. His involvement with Grafton Little League, where he mentored young umpires, exemplified his dedication to youth development and sportsmanship.
Steve recently celebrated his 75th birthday, surrounded by family and friends—a joyful occasion he spoke of fondly in his final days. His presence will be greatly missed at Packer parties on opening day in Green Bay and during camping trips with the Mac Pac. His grandchildren will continue his enthusiastic support for the Brewers and Packers, keeping his love for these teams alive.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Debbie, whom he married on October 20, 1973. He leaves behind his children, Jim (Becky) Auerbach and Kristen (Chris) Keely, both of whom he cherished deeply. As a proud Papa, Steve was devoted to his four grandchildren—Connor, Emma, Maddie, and Will—who were the light of his life and will always remember his encouragement and support.
He is also survived by his sisters Teresa (Michael, deceased) Sutton, Tish (Joe) Kremslehner, and Eileen (Jeff) Ziegler; his brothers-in-law Bob (Elaine) May and Ed (Mary Beth) May; and many nieces and nephews, including Rachael (AJ) Bruno, Kayleigh May, and Joey Kremslehner.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and service at 10:45 am at Saint Frances Cabrini Church located at 1025 S 7th Ave, West Bend, WI 53095 with a luncheon to follow.
