Shirley L. Thomson (nee Weiand), age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the New Perspectives in West Bend. She was born in Milwaukee, WI to George and Albina (nee Forster) Weiand. She graduated from Messmer High School in 1950. Shirley met Ev on Big Cedar Lake when her boat broke down, he rescued the damsel in distress and it is history from there. Shirley enjoyed spending her time volunteering in her community at the Schauer Center, St. Peter Catholic church and the Harvest House. She loved to paint, entertain and especially being involved in her grandchildren's lives.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ev; children, Sue (Stan) South, William (Kathleen Guertin) Thomson, Kathleen A. (Jeff Pozorski) Thomson, Patricia (Robert) Eggers, Lisa (Greg Straub) Kreuser; grandchildren, Scott (Bethany) South, Michael (Katie Lyn) Guertin, David (Kimberly) Monday, Carolyn (Joseph) Meinerz, Cynthia (Christopher) Schlieder, Jessica (William) Fazio, Garrett Eggers, Andrew (Brittany) Kreuser, Mitchell Kreuser and 16 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by close nieces Marilyn and Peg, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Marge (Hugo) Mashur and Leroy (Marge) Weiand, parents-in-law and sister-in-law Dorothy Bartelt.

A Funeral Service will be at 6:30PM on Thursday November 1, 2018 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095). Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, November 1st from 4:00PM until 6:15PM. Private Interment at New St. Peter Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association (620 S. 76th St. Suite 160 Milwaukee, WI 53214-1599).
