Shirley Mae (Hug) Sartler, 93, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born on May 13, 1931, in Milwaukee to the late Edgar and Lenora (Lahl) Hug and was the third youngest in a family of twelve children. She spent much of her life dedicated to her family. Shirley shared an enduring marriage with her husband, Ray, and together they raised three children, Ray, Ron, and Sandy. She loved her role as a mother and wife, and she helped and cared for her grandkids over the years. Later, Shirley went on to work in the accounting department of Woolworth's corporate office in Milwaukee, retiring in 1993. She enjoyed music, dancing, movies, and spending time with family, especially during the holidays. Shirley was a fighter battling various health setbacks in recent years and her strength, her warm laugh and smile, and the love she shared will always be remembered.
She is survived by her children Raymond Sartler, Ronald (Mary) Sartler, and Sandra (Jeff) Paavola. Shirley was a proud grandmother of 9, a great grandmother of 16 and a great-great grandmother of 1 as well. She is further survived by her brother Erle Hug and other relatives.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, siblings, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W Paradise Dr, West Bend. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. A private entombment will follow later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
