Scott David Wimer
, 71, of Trenton, WI, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Scott was the fifth of seven children, born on June 5, 1953, in Milwaukee, WI, to Arnold and Joyce (née Zimmerman) Wimer. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1971 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for four years. Much of his service was spent aboard the USS
Jouett
in the Philippines. During his military career, Scott attained the rank of E-4 and earned the National Defense Service Medal, two Navy Unit Commendations, and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Scott was an exceptional provider for his family. He had a deep passion for hunting and was a true tinkerer, constantly teaching himself new skills, including reupholstering, whittling, welding, and inlaying. As a dedicated father, he and his wife Maria worked together to provide a comfortable life for their children, with Scott primarily focused on small engine maintenance and repair.
As a hunter, Scott welcomed others to join him in the stands, always with the intention of sharing his knowledge and experiences. He instilled in others a deep respect for firearms, the harvest, and fellow hunters. You weren't there to play.
Scott was also known for his willingness to help others with anything he knew or could figure out. Small engine repair and vehicle service were second nature to him, and he never shied away from tackling electrical or plumbing issues if he felt capable. His garage was his sanctuary, where he could often be found learning a new skill or working on a project. In recent years, one of his favorite hobbies was tapping maple trees—both his own and those of neighbors, to make his "Elixir of Life" maple syrup. Scott was also a talented artist, and his family is only now discovering several cherished doodles he created over the years. He was happiest in his workshop or teaching others about the art of the hunt.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of over 47 years, Mary Ann "Maria"; their children: Anthony "Tony," Ryan (Cassie), and Ashley (Amber) Wimer; and his five grandchildren: Sebastian, Carson, Colton, Felix, and Mabel Wimer. He is further survived by his sisters: Pam (Chris) Beck and Gail Frank; brother: Brad Wimer; and sister-in-law: Michelle Wimer. Scott is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Arnold and Joyce Wimer; his brothers: Steve and Mark Wimer; and his sister: Beth Wimer.
A memorial service for Scott will be held at Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend on Monday, December 9, 2024. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM until 5:45PM, with a display of pictures and items of interest from throughout Scott's life. Services will follow at 6:00 PM.
