Obituary

Scott L. Weiss, age 70, of Iron Ridge, passed away unexpectedly at his home Sunday, May 17, 2026. He was born on May 26, 1955, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Leslie and Mildred (Woog) Weiss. On August 15, 1987, Scott married the love of his life, Dawn (Hammes) Weiss, in Kewaskum. Together they shared 39 wonderful years of marriage and built a loving family.

Scott graduated from Kewaskum High School, Class of 1973, and went on to attend Moraine Park Technical College, where he earned an associate’s degree in tool and die. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who, alongside his wife Dawn, owned and operated Phase II Die & Mold for 30 years. He took great pride in his work, the business they built together, and the relationships he formed throughout his career.

He was a man who found his greatest joy in his family, especially his grandchildren who knew him lovingly as “papa.” Whether he was wrestling with them, taking them for UTV rides, letting them help in the race shop, or sneaking them candy after their mom’s and dad’s said “no” he made every moment fun and unforgettable. Sleepovers at Nana and Papa’s house meant favorite meals, shopping trips, ice cream, laughter, and memories that will be treasured forever.

Racing was more than a hobby to him, it was a lifelong passion and a family tradition. He spent many years racing and took great pride in watching his son, Dustin in the family’s #53 dirt Grand National. Some of his happiest times were spent in the shop working on the race car alongside friends and pit crew members who became family. Scott loved the outdoors and cherished time hunting on his property with family and getting out fishing whenever he could. He was a loyal fan of the Packers, Brewers, and NASCAR, always enjoying a race or game whenever it was on.

Above all, he was proud of his family. He never missed an opportunity to talk about them or turn an ordinary moment into something funny. His sense of humor, generous heart, and love for those around him will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Scott is survived by his wife, Dawn; his children, Ashley (Nathan) Reitz, Lindsey (Eric) Schmidt, Dustin Weiss (fiancée Michaela Nickel), and Jacob (Tabitha) Weiss; and his six beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Blake, and Madison Reitz, Olivia and Cameron Schmidt, and Lexi Weiss. He is further survived by his siblings, Margo Schwartz, Wendy (Daniel) Coulter, and Kip (Stephanie) Weiss, brother-in-law David (Debbie) Hammes, brother-in-law Danny Hammes, Sister-in-law Doreen (Gary) Thull, brother-in-law Dale Hammes, brother-in-law Douglas (Becky) Hammes, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Mildred Weiss; his parents-in-law, Donald and Doris Hammes; his brother-in-law, Gary Schwartz; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Hammes.

Scott will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for family, and the many memories made with those closest to him. In honoring Scott’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at The Columbian Hall located at 3245 Lighthouse Lane West Bend, WI 53090 on Thursday May 28, 2026 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
