Sandra (Hoehn) Hafert, of West Bend, Wisconsin, passed into eternal peace on October 6 after an incredible 12-year battle with cancer. Sandy was born on August 19, 1962, in Louisiana, to Jean (Schumacher) Hoehn and Phil Hoehn.
Sandy found joy in life, and in the people and things she loved. Before her mother and sister, Sherry Anderson, passed, the three of them often went to movies, enjoyed lunch and shopping, and watched awards shows together—discussing all the amazing (and occasionally questionable) fashion along the way.
She loved her gardens, her extensive coloring collection, snuggling with her pups, and online shopping for gifts and trinkets for her three grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by the love of her life, John; her son, Jesse (Alyssa); her grandchildren, Beckett, Landon, and Charlotte; her brother, Steve (Cyndee); her nieces and nephews; and countless friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean (Bill Sinex); her father, Phil; her sister, Sherry; her nephew, Matthew; and other loved ones who met her with open arms in heaven.
Sandy did not wish to have an elaborate service. John will host a casual open-house celebration of life on October 24th from 12pm to 5pm at their West Bend residence.
We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Froedtert Hospital Center for Advanced Care and its staff. Over the years, they treated Sandy and her family with such kindness, care, and compassion. We met some incredible caregivers throughout this journey, and we are especially grateful that familiar faces returned in recent weeks to help care for Sandy as she transitioned to eternal life.
Sandy will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched. Her colorful sense of style, her love of flowers and fashion, and her unending kindness to everyone and everything was unmatched.
We love you so much, Sandy. We hope you’re drinking Cosmos with your mother Jean and sister Sherry, and enjoying the afterlife. We can’t wait to see you again.
In lieu of flowers, Sandy requested donations in her honor to the Washington County Humane Society, helping keep her love of rescuing animals alive.
