Russell "Russ" R. McGarvie, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 18th, 2014 in Watertown, WI. Russ was born on May 28th, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI to Archie and Viola (nee Kaap) McGarvie. Russ married Carol Ann (nee Kohlwey) McGarvie on January 31, 1953 and had three sons. He earned an engineering degree from Marquette University and spent many years as an estimator at Kallas Millwork Corporation. Russ retired at the age of 75. Russ enjoyed attending his sons' high school events and loved his dogs Pepper and Willie. He was an active member in the Glendale Business Council and Lions Club, and was very handy with tools, construction and remodeling, including rebuilding his and Carol's dream place at Big Cedar Lake. Throughout Russ's illness he was brave and always had a smile and the best attitude. Everyone liked him, everywhere he went. Russ was a "give you the shirt off his back" guy and kind to everyone right to the end. Alzheimer's makes for a long goodbye. Now he is at peace.

Russ is survived by his children Thomas of Watertown, Robert (Nanci Jo) of Elgin, IL and Richard (Colleen) of Slinger; grandchildren Bryce (Sarah), Breanne and Joey; brothers Douglas (Lois) and Norman (Audrey), nieces and nephews and special friend Dorothea Hegbar.

Russ is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol Ann, sister-in-law Joyce, mother-in-law Lynette Riehle.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's research, Humane Society or a deserving cause of your choice.

Services for Russ will be Monday July 28, 2014 at 6:30pm at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend (1420 W. Paradise Dr.). Visitation for Russ will be July 28th, at the funeral home from 3:30pm until the time of the service at 6:30pm.
