Ronald "Pops" Mentch age 90 passed, while surrounded by family, November 19, 2024, at St. Joes Hospital West Bend, ending his 2-year battle with Blood Cancer.
Born on January 24, 1934, Ron was the youngest son born to Frank and Ida Mentch. He joined his older brother Frank who was 10 years his senior. Ron attended South Division High School where he served as Student Council President his senior year. Unfortunately, both his parents would not live long enough to see him graduate from South Division High School in 1952. His mother Ida passed away early in 1951 and his father Frank passed away just 6 months later.
In 1956 Ron joined the Army. They stationed him at Fort Lewis, Washington where he carried out his service as a parts specialist and shipping clerk and then was honorably discharged.
In 1970 Ron met the love of his life, Joan. She came from a large family; she was the youngest of 7. Throughout the years they loved to get together with family and friends, take rides in the car to see the leaves turning colors, or to look at all the Christmas lights. They mostly enjoyed finding new bars to stop at and meeting new people. One thing Ron could do was talk to anyone. You may have heard the same story multiple times, but he always had a good one to tell. He would help you out if you needed a hand, his door was always open, and he always had food if you needed something to eat.
Ron leaves behind his daughter, Roni May, son Joseph Mentch, grandchildren, Tyler May and Samantha May, Talon (Elizabeth) Lippert, great-grandchildren Jasper, Oakley, and Violet Lippert. Ron is further survived by other family members and many friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ida Mentch, wife Joan Mentch, brother, Frank (Mildred) Mentch. Brothers in law Clarence (Mary) Hirschmann, Richard (Betty) Hirschmann, Ron Hirschmann and Marvin Hirschmann. Sisters-in-law Marlyn (Robert) White, and Gladys (Gene) Zueck. Nephews Craig Mentch and Johnny Hirschmann.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14
