Ronald “Ron” H. Dix, age 81, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 24, 1944, to Robert and Marcile (nee Schmidt) Dix. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He started his career at Wisconsin Centrifugal and General Castings, and then went on to a 27-year career at Badger Meter, Inc. He served on numerous boards such as Badger Meter’s Board of Directors and Foundation Board; Chairman of the Board on Healthcare Information for the State of Wisconsin appointed by Governor Tommy Thompson; Community Memorial Hospital Board & Foundation Board; Froedtert Hospital; PIC Wisconsin (Physicians Insurance Company of Wisconsin); Greater Milwaukee Business Foundation on Health, Inc.; and Board of Directors for Sanibel Beach Club II.
What Ron cherished most was time spent with family – his wife of 49 years, Susan "Sue"; three daughters, Sherry, Stacy, Stephanie; three sons-in-law, Troy, Joe, Jay; and eight grandchildren (4 granddaughters and 4 grandsons), who he adored and always supported in everything they did. He worked hard and played hard at the family lake cottage on Silver Lake (West Bend). In addition, Sanibel Island, Florida held a special place in his heart with over 50+ years of family vacations and where he tirelessly helped rebuild the family’s happy place after Hurricane Ian for his kids and grandkids to enjoy in years to come.
He will be remembered for his strength, practical wisdom, selfless and dedicated love for his family, his steady hand and comforting pat on your shoulder, and the way he showed up for those he loved. Ron’s love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his values, impact and legacy will carry on.
Ron is survived by his wife, Susan “Sue” (nee Jaeschke); three daughters, Sherry (Troy) Perlberg, Stacy (Joe) Werner, and Stephanie (Jay) Campbell; eight grandchildren, Ava and Ethan Perlberg, Madison, Jacob and Maxwell Werner, Sienna, Sophie and Grant Campbell; brother, Jim (Sue) Dix; and sisters-in-law, Jean Dix and Mary Arthur. He is further survived by his niece, nephews and many friends.
