Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Robert John Wieting, known affectionately to most as Bob, who departed this world on May 25, 2026, at the age of 78. Bob passed away peacefully at the Cedar Community, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on November 13, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Donald and Catherine Wieting.

Bob’s journey through life was marked by a profound dedication to family, community, and service. He was a devoted husband to Donna, with whom he shared a remarkable 53 years of marriage. Together, they created a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Bob and Donna married on September 23, 1973, a union that became the cornerstone of their family.

A proud veteran, Bob served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1970. His service aboard the USS Ranger was a period of growth and camaraderie, and he carried these values with him throughout his life, transitioning from the deck to the kitchen, where he discovered his knack for bringing people together through eating food.

Bob’s professional life was spent on the open road as a dedicated truck driver for over three decades. He was known as "Dirty Erv" to his friends and for his impulse purchases of his Peterbilt semis, owning several throughout his career. He especially enjoyed it when Donna and Cameran joined him on the road. Together, Bob and Cameran traveled to 37 states over the years. Whether driving dump trucks, box, short, or long hauls, Bob’s commitment to trucking was evident in every mile he traveled, over the speed limit.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was an avid fisherman, an average hunter, and a lousy elk hunter. He cherished time spent outdoors, often camping with family and friends, where stories were shared around the campfire, and his laughter echoed through the trees. Bob was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and could always be counted on to recount the latest Brewers / Packer game score anytime you needed.

Bob’s legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Donna; his daughter, Carrie Ryan, and son-in-law, Donny, both of Wausau; his treasured grandson, Cameran Ryan, also of Wausau; his brother, Jerome (Kathy) Wieting of Hubertus; and his sister, Julie (Paul) Pfister of Hubertus. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Donna, brothers John and Edward, and his precious daughter, Donna Bobbie.

The Wieting family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cedar Community for the last two years of exceptional care and loving attention, which brought comfort and dignity to Bob’s final days.

As we gather to celebrate Bob’s life, we remember a man who lived for his family and friends. He is loved by so many and created an amazing family. His spirit will forever be a guiding light for his family and friends, inspiring us to cherish each moment and hold our loved ones close.

Bob will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will remain with us always. May he rest in eternal peace.
