Robert C. Johnson, (R. C.) of West Bend passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the age of 89. He was surrounded by the love of his family as well as the caring staff at the Kathy Hospice Center of Washington County.
Robert was the son of William and Eleanor (Zimmermann) Johnson, born on June 9, 1925. On April 6, 1946 he was married to Elaine Gyr. They were blessed to have three wonderful daughters, Patsy, Susan and Jacqueline.
Robert was a WWII Veteran, and well known for his unwavering determination which was evident and demonstrated by his passion for his chosen profession as a sole proprietor of a successful house moving business.
R.C. enjoyed nothing more than putting a smile on the faces of those he loved. He has forever made an impact on the lives of those he has touched. "A simple man of few words, admired for his wisdom, strength, courage, and humor, forever cherished, his legacy will live on."
Cherished Father of Patsy (Harvey) Koepp, Susan Tennies, & Jacqueline Johnson, Admired Grandfather of Carolyn (Todd Karutz) Johnson Nevers, Eric (Regina) Koepp, Jennifer (Phillip III) Verville & Kelly Jo (Aaron) Schmidt. Pround Great Grandfather of Taylore Verville, Morgan Nevers, Brooklyn & Carson Schmidt. Further survived by his brother Russell (Audrey) Johnson and his late brother, William Jr's wife Natalie, as well as brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by Elaine (Gyr) Johnson his beloved wife and soul mate of 70 years. His father, William E. Johnson Sr. (former Sheriff of Washington County and founder of Slinger Super Speedway) his mother Eleanor M. (Zimmerman) Johnson (former Matron of Washington County Jail), and his brother, William E. Johnson Jr. (Billy "the cat").
In honor, a small service will be held at The West Bend Cemetery Chapel on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00 am, located at 3358 Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI. A "private" family burial service will follow.
