Obituary
Robert "Bob" Janzer, 70, of West Bend, WI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 13, 2025. Born on January 4, 1955, to Alphonse and Daphne Janzer, Bob was one of seven siblings, and family was always at the heart of his life. On August 19, 1978, he married the love of his life, Marijean (Bauer), and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage.
A man of deep faith, Bob was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to others, he made a lasting impact on everyone he met. Throughout his life, Bob selflessly served his community as a firefighter, EMS responder, member of the scuba rescue team, and school board member, always ready to help those in need. For nearly 40 years, Bob worked as a welder at Messer, approaching each day with quiet dignity, ensuring his family was well provided for.
In retirement, Bob enjoyed the simpler things in life—fishing, having breakfast with friends, sharpening chainsaws, and spending time with his granddaughter, Amelia. Over the years, he pursued a variety of hobbies, including gardening, running an emu and buffalo farm, and working on projects with Marijean. Bob was also truly an artist at welding. Above all, Bob took great pride in being a father and grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Marijean; children Scott (Tamara) Janzer and Andrew (Andrea) Janzer; granddaughter Amelia; and his siblings David (Marilyn), Ralph (LaVerne), Howard (Irene), Diane (Dean), and Virginia. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Daphne Janzer, and his sister, Maryellen.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the EMTs for their heroic efforts in attempting to save Bob, as well as to the West Bend Police Department for their kindness and support during this difficult time. The family would also like to sincerely acknowledge Phillip Funeral Home for their professionalism and compassionate kindness.
Funeral Services for Bob will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W Paradise Dr, West Bend, WI 53095). Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM service. A luncheon will follow the service.
