Robert “Bob” Mathew Guarino
“Bob” Guarino was born in Manhattan, New York, on July 13, 1939, and passed to eternal life on September 15, 2026.
Bob grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School. While still in school, he worked at a local butcher shop and went on to spend many years as a meat cutter at A&P and Nino’s. He later worked for Cozzini Brothers, a knife-sharpening company, where he retired.
Bob proudly served as a paratrooper in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division from 1960–1966.
On February 1, 1964, Bob married the love of his life, Martha Rossell, at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Yonkers, New York. They were married for 62 years. In 1969, Bob and Marty moved their family to Wisconsin, where they raised their three children and built their life together in West Bend. Some of the family’s happiest times were spent at their home on Silver Lake.
Bob was a quiet man—until he wasn’t. He had a dry, sarcastic sense of humor and a gift for delivering a perfectly timed one-liner. Often unexpected, at times inappropriate, and almost always funny. His comments were part of what made Bob so memorable. His New York roots only added to his unique style and character.
Bob loved woodworking and spent countless hours creating furniture, birdhouses, and all kinds of other projects. He was always involved in remodeling their homes, taking pride in doing things himself and doing them right. It was pretty remarkable that someone who grew up in an apartment in the Bronx developed such a talent for creating things that were both unique and beautifully crafted.
During their retirement, Bob and Marty spent their winters in Stuart, Florida, where they enjoyed the sunshine and formed new friendships while staying connected to the people they loved back home.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marty; his children, Bob Jr. (Jill), Jim (Angela), and Amy (John); sister-in-law Judy Guarino and Anne Lemma (Tony); and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Loretta Guarino, and his brother, Bernard Jr.
Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Parish, 521 Congress St., Newburg, WI on October 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., followed by a Mass at noon and then Military Honors.
Bob leaves behind a family who loved him, fun-filled friendships, and plenty of stories. He was simply Bob, and those lucky enough to know him wouldn’t have wanted him any other way.
