Robert O.W. Fessmann, age 93, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 4, 2018 in West Bend. He was born on October 25, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI to Henry and Emma (nee Martens) Fessman.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Rock submarine. He married Virginia Behling on September 25, 1954 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He worked his entire life at American Can Company as a truck mechanic. He also entertained as Prof. Foolzum and Willie the Tramp, a clown and magician, throughout the Midwest. He was a past president of the Houdini Club of Wisconsin. In his retirement he enjoyed working with model trains.

He actively lived his Christian faith, having served on various boards and committees in congregations and organizations of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

Robert is survived by his children, Diane (Rev. Robert) Fleischmann, Joanne (Andrew) Straub, Linda (Mark) Berezowitz, and Carol (Glenn) Bednarek; grandfather of Jill Brunner, Rachel Zweck, Benjamin Ade, Caity Schneider, Ryan and Dana Berezowitz, and Trevor and Travis Bednarek; great-grandfather of Will, Kiana, Gabriel, Zakary, Cadence, Delilah, Ellie, and Theo. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Ginny).

A Memorial Service will be at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (799 St. Paul Dr. Slinger, WI 53086) with Rev. Robert Fleischmann officiating. Visitation will be at church on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service (12:00) PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Slinger), Christian Life Resources (Richfield), or WELS Institutional Ministries (Oconomowoc).
