Robert George Baumann, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Samaritan Nursing and Rehab in West Bend with additional care by Allay Hospice. He was born on September 26, 1937, in Chicago, IL, to John and Helen (nee Larson) Baumann. The family moved to Milwaukee, WI, and ultimately to Mountain, WI.
Robert married Kaye Breunig in 1960 and they had 3 daughters, but divorced. His youngest daughters came to live with him in 1977 in Milwaukee. Robert was a self-employed painter/wall paper hanger by then. In 1981 he married Linda M. Lochen and added his 4th daughter to the family.
Robert was a gifted guitar player and modeled his playing in the style of Willie Nelson. His family knew him as a man who loved God, a devoted husband and a dedicated father. His happiest moments were spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren spanning his lifetime, and playing guitar.
After commercial and residential painting and hanging wallpaper, Robert added commercial and residential skylight sales and installation to his business, working with many local builders. In 1993, he began selling framed art door to door to businesses and eventually opened his own custom picture framing and fine art gallery in Butler, WI, until he chose to retire to a golf community in San Antonio, Florida. Ten years later, a new generation of cute grandbabies in West Bend trumped Florida winters, so he and Linda moved back to Wisconsin, ultimately settling in West Bend.
Robert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda; daughters Kellie Kandis (Mark Kuzba), Sandra Sires (Cesar), and Erin Gurlusky; grandchildren Kyle Baumann (Sarah), Ashlee Grochan (Nick), Drew Smialek, and Owen and Isabel Gurlusky; great-grandsons Maxwell and Jackson Baumann and Grant and Gavin Grochan, as well as nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patsy Baumann, daughter Sherri (Smialek) Abrams, brother James Baumann, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Robert has joined that great cloud of witnesses (in Heaven) surrounding us as mentioned in Hebrews 12:1, having run the race set before him with endurance, and waits for the rest of his like-minded family and friends to join him in Heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Faith Journey Church (N120W21580 Freistadt Rd., Germantown, WI, 53022, with Pastor John Garcia presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until 11:15. Interment will be on a future, warmer date at Washington County Memorial Park Cemetery in West Bend.
A special thank you for the tender care provided to Robert by the Samaritan staff and Allay Hospice.
