Richard Allen Slavik, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the Kettle Moraine
Gardens in Kewaskum. He was born on October 5, 1938 in Newburg, WI to Wenzel and Marie
(nee Gruber) Slavik. On September 30th, 1961 he married his love, Joan (nee Flasch) Slavik at
St. Mary's Immaculate Conception.
Richard was proud to serve in the United States Army National Guard, Specialist Five (E-5) with a Sharp Shooter Badge earned on May 8, 1965.
Richard enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, driving his tractor and making hay for Dancer. Planting
his garden with pumpkins (for the grandkids) and sweet corn and selling the sweet corn and
pumpkins.
Richard is survived by his children, Thomas and Linda (Samuel) Ortlieb; grandchildren,
Samantha Marie (James)Ortlieb, Hannah Rose Ortlieb(special friend Noah Guenterberg) and
Katherine, Kyle and Madeline Slavik; sisters-in-law Betty (Harold Jr) Mapes, Janice (Joe)
Klahn, Pat Mueller , Jean (Sylvester) Krahn, Robert (Carolyn) Slavik and Diane Slavik. He is
further survived by other relatives and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife Joan, precious son Anthony Peter in infancy, his
parents, brother Raymond, parents-in-laws Kilian and Gertrude Flasch, siblings-in-law Clarisy
Lennartz, Paula and Frank Oresnik, Roland and Marion Flasch, Robert and JanetFlasch, Adeline
and Bill Flasch, Gregor and Grace Flasch, Rosie and Roman Barth, Laverne and Ken Schobel,
Eileen and Joe Steger and brother-in-law Lloyd Mueller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at St. Mary's
Immaculate Conception (406 Jefferson St. West Bend, WI 53090) with Fr. Jacob Strand
presiding. Visitation will be at church on Tuesday, November 14 th from 10:00 AM until
11:45AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Washington County Humane Society.
