Richard “Dick” Reiter of West Bend, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Dick was a man deeply loved and widely respected—by family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him. His life was marked by integrity, warmth, and an engaging spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Born in 1937 in Milwaukee, Dick was raised in Port Washington with his brother, Thomas (Donna and Thomas Reiter). He attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Port Washington High School in 1955. Those early years shaped the values that guided him throughout his life: responsibility, loyalty, and a strong work ethic.
Dick graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1962, having attended both the Madison and Milwaukee campuses. A proud Badger to the core, he remained a lifelong and enthusiastic supporter of UW football and basketball.
Dick built a successful career in the automotive and motorcycle industry, beginning with Chevrolet Motor Division and Chrysler Motors, before being recruited by Walter Davidson in 1967 to join the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Working directly with John Davidson, Dick was part of a defining era for an iconic American brand—one that perfectly matched his love of motorcycles and mechanical excellence. He later fulfilled his entrepreneurial spirit as owner of Dick Reiter Chevrolet Buick in Wisconsin Dells, where he was known for honesty, relationships, and community trust.
Family was always at the center of Dick’s life. He was a devoted husband and lifelong companion to his wife, Sandy, and a loving father to his children, Jodi Zoph (Tim Zoph). And Tim Reiter (Holly Reiter). He took immense pride in his grandchildren—Sophie Reiter, Joel Reiter, and Barret Zoph—and delighted in his role as great-grandfather to Atlas Reiter.
Dick is survived by his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law who had a special place in his extended family: Kristine Collins and Anita and James Heinzelman.
Dick was the son of Lucille Bleier Reiter and Alois (“Al”) Reiter, and he carried forward their values of kindness, perseverance, and respect.
An avid golfer, lifelong Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan, and passionate car racing and motorcycle enthusiast, Dick embraced life with enthusiasm and joy.
Dick will be remembered as a loving father, loyal friend, and steady presence—someone who made others feel valued simply by being himself. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with gratitude and love.
