Richard (Rich) Koenig was born on April 5, 1946, in West Bend, Wisconsin, to Marvin and Rosilie (Mauel) Koenig. Growing up on the Koenig family turkey farm, he learned the enduring values of hard work, loyalty, and devotion to family. These principles guided him throughout his life.
Rich attended MSOE and UW Oshkosh before taking on his life's work as a multi-faceted business owner. In 1969, he married his beloved wife, Katherine (Kathie) Anderson, and together they raised their family of five in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.
Rich's career was defined by vision, perseverance and never-ending entrepreneurial spirit. For more than 50 years, he led Koenig Industries, a company known for its large format, high precision, metal machining. While running "KI" in Germantown, Wisconsin, he also owned the Koenig Industries Beef Farm in "the western part of the state", Richland Center, Wisconsin. Anyone lucky enough to have tasted Koenig Beef would tell you: he set the standard for Black Angus steaks. Even with these ventures taking him back and forth on highway 33, he remained devoted to maintaining the Koenig farm in Newburg, Wisconsin alongside his brother, sisters, in-laws, nephews, and nieces. The Koenig farm remains a place rich in memories, laughter, numerous traditions and family gatherings in and around the "White House".
Rich was an avid outdoorsman and the consummate hunter and fisherman. He hosted annual deer hunts and Canadian fishing trips that became legendary among friends, coworkers, clients, and family. Known for his generosity, quick wit, and storytelling, Rich had an unmatched ability to bring people into the group. He'd even tell you where the morels were that year. He was happiest sharing a shore lunch of cast-iron fried northern and walleye, or grilling steaks and chicken at the farm, surrounded by those he loved most.
Rich will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, love of family, and boundless generosity. His laughter, stories, and spirit will live on in all who were fortunate to know him.
Rich is survived by
