Richard A. Knier, 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 10, 1928 to the late Theodore and Wilhelmina (nee Herr) Knier. Richard served honorably in the United States Navy. He was adventurous and enjoyed camping, boating, traveling, and trips to the north woods. He loved family vacations and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara (nee Klann); cherished children, Michael J. Knier and Sandra (Mark) Gonnering. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren: Jeffrey and Brad (Holly Jusko) Knier, Bridgette, Samantha, and Danielle Gonnering; adored great-granddaughter, Mila Jillian Knier; siblings: Thomas (Francis), Theodore (Bernadine), and Patricia (Sal) Magilo; sisters-in-law, Betty (Bob) Muehlbauer, Donna (Leonard) Leamanczyk; and brother-in-law, Richard Albin. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Jill Knier and sister-in-law, Nancy Albin.

The family would like to say "Thank You" to all of his family and friends who visited him.
