Raymond "Ray" G. Niemi, age 83 years, of Jackson, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at Jackson Crossings.
Ray was born on March 3, 1930 in Michigan to Matt and Lydeia (nee Pajala) Niemi. He served in the US Army from 1951-1953 in the Korean Conflict. Ray married Olinda (nee Bruemmer) on August 18, 1984. He loved sports, both live and on television along with watching the news. He enjoyed fishing and taking beautiful trips to Florida and Texas. Active church member at Memorial Lutheran Church in Glendale and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in West Bend.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Olinda, son Scott, Pam Harris, Mark Bruemmer, Debbie (Dan) Yenter and Ruth (Peter) Wood. Further survived by his grandchildren Justin (Stacy), Joel, Miles, and Travis, great-grandchildren Natalie and Kyler, brothers Milton (Catherine), Doug, Verne (Bea), sister Millie Mackinen, sister-in-law Lillian, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl and Calvin, and sister Aily.
A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Memorial Lutheran Church of Glendale (7701 N. Green Bay Ave., Glendale). Visitation will be at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend (1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend) on Sunday, November 24 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm with continued visitation at Memorial Lutheran Church on Monday, November 25 from 10:00 am until time of service (11:00 am). In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to Memorial Lutheran Church (7701 N. Green Bay Ave. Glendale, WI 53209) or the Veteran Association of your choice.
