Paul was born in Jackson, Wisconsin to Melvin and Norma Gumm on January 9,1939. He went to school in Jackson and graduated from West Bend High School in 1957. Paul worked in his father’s general store in Jackson, Hoge and Gumm. He later took over ownership. Later in life he also worked for Cedar Lake Home, and in other banking and real estate ventures.
Paul married Gayle Hoerchner on April 26,1981. Many interests occupied his time including Boy scouts and playing and watching multiple sports. His passion was going up north to Eagle River and spending time on Otter Lake. He enjoyed hosting family and friends at his cherished lake house.
Faith was very important to Paul, and he spent fruitful years at Friedens-Peace (New Hope) in Jackson, and Our Savior’s Lutheran and Community Church in West Bend.
Many are left to cherish his memory, including his devoted wife, Gayle; two children Matthew (Michelle) and Rebecca; two granddaughters, Maryke and Ceren; a brother, Andrew (Susan); sister-in-law, Barbara Seefeldt; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David.
