Patricia Mary Linnemanstons, nee Joda, 92, of West Bend, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at Kathy Hospice on Tuesday, Dec. 3rd.
Pat was born in Milwaukee on September 5, 1932, to Jennie and Frank Joda. After having only sons, Jennie thanked the doctor profusely for giving her a daughter! Pat attended St. Catherine's Elementary School, where she formed several lifelong friendships. She attended Messmer High School, where she was a class treasurer, enjoyed many friendships, and met the love of her life, John Linnemanstons. While at Messmer, Pat and seven female classmates began "Club," a social group that later became Couples Club as the women married. Throughout their lives, Pat and John joined these dear friends monthly for parties, picnics, and get-togethers.
Pat and John graduated from Marquette University and were married in 1954. After a brief time as an elementary school teacher, Pat paused work to have five children in six years and became a full-time homemaker. She was a skilled seamstress who sewed clothes for her family and herself, knitting endless hats and mittens while keeping the family well-fed with hearty meals and delicious desserts. People could taste the love in her apple kuchen and elephant ears. Later, she returned to work and was employed in various part-time positions, including substitute teaching and working in a clothing store.
In 1980, Pat and John left West Bend. They built a home on their beautiful land in Sheboygan County, where this city girl gradually embraced the county life, finding delight in the various animals on the farm, the chicken coop and a large garden from which she enjoyed processing many fruits and vegetables. During these years she began to do temp work and eventually found a full-time position at Curt G. Joa company in Sheboygan Falls. There, she enjoyed work and friendships in the purchasing department for 15 years until her retirement at age 70. For the next 15 years, Pat volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul in Plymouth, where she loved having early access to donated clothing and goods, and the camaraderie with other volunteers.
Pat took great comfort and joy in her Catholic faith and lived her life guided by its principles. She cared deeply for her family and was generous with her love, particularly if one of them was struggling. Pat was steadfast in her support of her children, always on the sidelines rooting for and encouraging them. All of Pat's children are grateful that she impressed on them the importance of education and fueled their determination to excel at whatever they chose to do.
We will miss her sweet, sassy personality, easygoing spirit, and smile that could light up a room.
Pat was much-loved and will be greatly missed by her children Robb (Sandy), Ellen, Greg (Meg), John (Robin) and Mary Padilla, her brother Fr. Robert Joda, her sister-in-law Yvonne Werner, her grandchildren Becky (Patrick) Seaton, Anna (Matt) Troge, Ross Linnemanstons, John (Kirsten) Linnemanstons, Katherine (Derek) Jaeger, Elizabeth Linnemanstons, Greg (Maymie) Padilla, Elena (James) Kennedy; great-grandchildren Rowan and Malcolm Troge, Lily, Sam and Charlie Jaeger, and Riley and Theo Linnemanstons. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews and friends she made throughout her life.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, John, brother Tom and sister-in-law Nancy Joda, and a brother Francis, who perished before she was born.
A visitation will be held at St. Francis Cabrini (1025 S 7th Ave. West Bend, WI) on December 17, 2024 from 9am-10:45am, with a Memorial Mass and lunch following.
