Ned Carlyle Vanderbunt, age 75, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in West Bend with his loving wife and daughter at his side. Ned was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 4, 1946, son of Ned Chester and Helen Mae Vanderbunt (nee Washburn). He was united in marriage to Barbara Janet Claas on June 14, 1969, at Immaculate Conception Church, West Bend.
Ned was a loving husband, father of three, grandfather of three, great grandfather of one, brother, uncle, and friend. He retired from his lifelong job as a machinist at Barton Products, West Bend, after 36 years of loyal service. Ned enjoyed bowling and softball in his younger years and had a passion for golf later in life. Commuting to work on his motorcycle was his daily enjoyment. He will be remembered for his of love of camping. He treasured spending time with his beautiful bride in his travel trailer at various campgrounds around Wisconsin. He spent many weekends at the family cabin in Big Flats, Wisconsin, and most importantly every year for deer season. He cared deeply for those around him and will be forever missed.
Ned is survived by Barbara Janet (72), his wife of 52 years; son Brian Scott Vanderbunt (50), granddaughter Britney Marie Prange (28), and great grandson Beckham Joseph Prange (10 months); daughter Kathryn Irene Bacon (47), granddaughter Kaila Nicole Bacon (23), and grandson Kyle Sean Bacon (17); and son Andrew John Vanderbunt (39). He is further survived by a brother and two sisters and several extended family members.
Ned was preceded in death by both of his parents and two sisters.
Per Ned's wishes, there will be no funeral or celebration of life. Condolences may be offered to the family in person or by phone. Additionally, the family requests you share stories and photographs of Ned below.
