Obituary
Nancy Jean Laguna passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 7, 2024 at the age of 83.
Nancy is survived by her sisters Judy Johnson and Beverly Reeves, brothers Wayne (Carol) Johnson and Dale (Deborah) Johnson, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
All who knew her are welcome to greet the family and offer condolences at a Celebration of Life at Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nancy's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
Nancy grew up in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. She attended Lakeland College and graduated in 1962. The same year she joined Menomonee Falls public schools as a teacher in 6 grade reading, social studies and language arts. She loved teaching and was beloved by her students. She was also the Wisconsin Middle School Teacher of the Year for 1988. After retiring, she has continued her work with youth as a pen pal.
Nancy moved to Cedar Ridge Community in 2016 and quickly became a fixture by serving as the floor rep for her wing and was known for riding her three-wheel bike "Sparky" around the parking lot. She played cards including sheepshead and 500, and played dominoes with her group.
Nancy was devoted to her church and sang in the choir for many years. She loved crossword puzzles and word games. She traveled extensively including a very memorable trip to Poland in 1982. She will be remembered for her patience, smile and friendliness.
