IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Muriel
Malmberg
January 2, 1929 – September 22, 2025
Muriel Dorothy Malmberg (nee Schwandt) was born on January 2, 1929 to parents Henry and Dora (nee Lenz) Schwandt. She died on September 22, 2025 after a week of needing pain control and having dementia for many years. Muriel was the oldest, with a brother and a sister. They grew up on Little Green Lake in Green Lake County, Wisconsin. Muriel came to Milwaukee for business college where she met Carl "Pat" Malmberg. They married on September 9, 1950 in the Zion Evangelical Church in her hometown of Markesan. Muriel and Pat had three children.
Muriel was a steadfast wife to her husband and a loving mom to her children. When her son married, she became an instant grandma. Her best times were spent at Chicaugoan Lake in the UP, where she baked for everyone who came to visit, especially Texas Sheet Cake. Her garden was another joy, as was bird watching and reading. Muriel was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church. She loved all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. The youngest great grandchild, Dawlton, and she shared a special bond. He was always looking for gifts with cardinals because he knew she loved them. So, whenever you see a cardinal, know that Muriel is nearby.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, parents-in-law, and sister-in-law Alice (nee Malmberg) (the late Elmer) Neitzel. She is survived by her children, Debra Lee (John Wieczorek) Malmberg, Carl Henry (Kathy) Malmberg, and Patti Lynn Malmberg; her grandsons, Andy (Donna) Wolf, Shawn (Christine) Wolf and Mike Wolf; her great grandchildren, Megan Ruger (fiancé Joey Payow), Nick (Crysta) Wolf, Cody (Kayla) Wolf, Ally (fiancé James Davignon) Wolf and Dawlton Wolf. She was blessed with three great, great grandchildren; Kamden, Callen and Brock. Also surviving Muriel are her brother Virgil (Nancy) Schwandt and sister Diann (the late Ray) Mickelson; her nephews and nieces: Jim (Sheryl) Neitzel, Gary Neitzel, Lori Neitzel Baker, Craig (Liz) Schwandt, Scot Schwandt, David (Barb) Mickelson, Lynn (Tom) Bement, Robert (Tracy) Mickelson, and James (Suzanne) Mickelson. Her good friends Dorothy and Fred Boness and their daughters Cindy, Doreen, Jane and Karen also survive her.
The family would like to thank Serenity Villa in Slinger for their loving care during her last year and a half.
