Marvin "Marv" A. Becker, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his residence. He was born on March 8, 1945 to Phillip and Dorothy Becker (nee Hassinger). Marv was passionate about snowmobiling, tractors, gardening, farming, fishing, hunting, and being up north on his pontoon boat with a pitcher of Old Fashions. He enjoyed traveling to Yellowstone Park and Alaska. He also enjoyed serving pancakes at the Allenton Car Show. Above all, Marv was very proud of his grandchildren.
He was a member of Allenton Lions Club, RATS (Restored Antique Tractors), Lily Sno-Birds Snowmobile Club, Tombstone Pickerel Snowmobile Club, The Oldsmobile Club of America, Inc., and a proud member of Laborers Local 113. He loved working at Pabst Brewing Company for "31 years, 3 months, and 12 days." He also was happy working at Zuern Building Products. He currently worked part-time "full-time" at Quad Graphics in Hartford. Marv was a hard worker, "where you find work, you will find Marv." Marv's favorite saying was, "Anybody can do a bad job."
He is survived by his wife, Jane (nee Discher); children, Wendy (David) Reese, and Steven Becker; grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Becker, and Sarah Johnson; brothers, Allen (Anita) Becker and Dale Becker; brothers-in-law, Larry (Cathy), Rick (Sandy) and Bud (Anne) Discher. He is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marlene Gochenauer; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Discher.
The Visitation will be on Thursday, June 27th from 4:00 PM until 7:15 PM at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend (1420 W Paradise Drive) followed by a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 PM. The Funeral Service will be on Friday, June 28th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Nancy Richmond presiding. Interment will follow at Washington County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allenton Lions Club (PO Box 387, Allenton, WI 53002) or the local FFA Chapter.
