Marcie Lyn Scholz (née Janke), age 76 passed away very peacefully on August 3, 2024, at her son's home in Kewaskum. She and her twin sister, Mary Lee, were born on April 6, 1948 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan to her parents Herbert Janke and Olivia Ninmer Janke (née Kaltenbrun) who lived on the family farm near Batavia, Wisconsin.
She attended Lafollette and Batavia grade schools then graduated from Random Lake High School in 1966. Marcie was employed by the Tecumseh-Power Products division in Grafton for more than 35 years where she met many life-long friends. After taking courses and graduating from MPTC in 2005, she began a new career journey in office administration at the Workforce Development Center in Mequon, finally retiring in 2013.
Marcie loved her family and cherished doing everything with them from helping with mundane chores to taking driving trips almost anywhere if someone wanted to go. She enjoyed photography, being outdoors, and appreciating nature. Marcie grew very fine vegetables in her gardens, and even after moving to a condo still enjoyed going to the farmers' market regularly - where she'd proudly find the freshest produce along with plenty of other interesting options. She and her good friend Chris Schmidt composed and developed thousands of thought-provoking and artistic photographs; Marcie was always the photographer to capture all the family events. When she was younger, Marcie loved riding her motorcycle, camping with her friends and son, and playing in local softball and volleyball leagues where she was often highlighted in newspaper coverage.
Marcie is survived by her son Jeff Scholz; sisters, Joyce Marie Jung (née Ninmer) and Mary Lee Maki (partner Keith Daniel); as well as nieces Kim (Randy) Griesbach and Jane (Mike) Subat. She is further survived by grand nieces and nephews Brandon (Molly) Griesbach, Olivia (Cole) Stratton, Logan Griesbach, Atticus Subat, and Perri Subat.
Marcie is preceded in death by her parents; younger brother, Kerry Janke; son-in-law, Steven Gorchals; brother-in-law, Hugo Jung; and her beloved aunts and uncles.
The family would like to express sincerest and deepest gratitude for the staff of Horizon Hospice who assisted with her final journey during these last few months. The care and compassion shown by every one of the staff (Stacey, Tammy, Tanisha, Kelley, Jennifer, Angie, and Jessi) during every visit has made them part of our family too.
Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 W Paradise Dr. West Bend, WI 53095). A short service will be held directly after the visitation. Interment will be at St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery in Batavia at 2:00pm the same afternoon.
