Obituary

Lucille "Lucy" Bucher, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. She entered the world on July 24, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, bringing a lifetime of warmth and compassion to everyone who knew her.

Lucy’s greatest pride and joy was her family; she proudly raised five boys, creating a bustling home filled with love, laughter, and lifelong memories.

Guided by a profound faith, she was also deeply involved with her Catholic community, dedicating many years to nurturing the hearts and minds of young people as a Sunday school teacher. She found great fellowship and purpose as an active member of the Christian Mothers organization.

She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Jack, and together they took great pleasure in exploring the world, traveling to Ireland and Germany, and spending cherished time together in Destin, Florida.

Throughout her working years, she enjoyed her time at Winona Knits and Schaefer Optometry, where she made many lasting friendships.

Alongside her devotion to her family, church and work, Lucy had a deeply creative soul. She found great joy in ceramics and crafting beautiful jewelry, spending many hours creating unique pieces and sharing her creations with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Bucher; her parents, Emil and Frieda (Polzin) Groth; her brothers, Emil and Kenneth Groth; and her sisters, Sylvia Groth and Dorothy Van Bortel.

Lucy’s legacy lives on through her surviving family, including her five devoted sons and daughters-in-law: John (Kathy), Ronald (Mary), Donald (Janelle), Daniel (Pat), and Timothy (Charity); her eleven cherished grandchildren; her ten precious great-grandchildren; Jack's siblings, Peg, Tom, and Kathy; and her extended family of nieces, nephews, parish friends, and loved ones, all of whom will miss her deeply.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of St. Croix Hospice and Grace Commons for their wonderful, dedicated care, comfort, and kindness given to Lucy.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Slinger, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lucy’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
