Lorraine E. Fogt, 100, of West Bend, passed away on October 31, 2014, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. She was born on April 15, 1914, in the Town of Jackson, to Theodore and Lillian (nee Widder) Bock. Lorraine was confirmed at St. Peter's Evangelical Church, Jackson, later known as St. Peter's United Church of Christ. She married Clarence Fogt on August 25, 1934, who preceded her in death on June 26, 2000. Lorraine was a lifetime member of St. Peter's UCC where she also taught Sunday school in earlier years. She was employed at various times by the Amity Leather Products Company of West Bend. Lorraine also did seasonal work at the Rockfield Canning Company. She also drove a Riteway School bus for twelve years. For most of her adult life Lorraine lived with her family in their home at Rockfield, but in later years in an apartment in West Bend. One of her favorite activities was playing cards – Sheepshead is the game – with various groups of friends, as well as at the Senior Centers in Germantown and then West Bend.
Lorraine was an avid volunteer, especially at the Samaritan Health Center where she became one of their most dependable, long term volunteers. She religiously devoted two days a week to her volunteer duties there, one of which was assisting residents in their Sheepshead games. When it came time for her to move from her apartment to an assisted living accommodation Lorraine chose The Fields, since it was connected to the Samaritan and would allow her to walk through to get to the Samaritan, if she at some time became unable to drive there.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Gerald (Betty) Fuller of DeForest; son-in-law Harold Skyrud of Waupaca; brother Kenneth Bock of Port Washington; four grandchildren Randy Fuller of DeForest, Douglas "Chum" (Stacey) Fuller of Eagan MN, Ellen Winterburn of Alto MI, and Daniel Skyrud of Milwaukee; two great-grandchildren Nathan and Nolan Winterburn of Alto MI; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; daughter Jane Skyrud; grandson Brian Fuller; sisters Pearl (Sylvester) Remmel and Bernice (Hillary) Weber; brothers Theodore (Stephanie) Bock Jr. and Lester Bock who died in infancy; and sister-in-law Babs Bock.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 3 at 2:00 PM at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr.), West Bend with the Rev. H. David Flegel officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lorraine's name may be donated to the charity of the donor's choice.
The family of Lorraine would like to say a special thank you to the second floor nursing staff of the Samaritan Health Center for their special care and compassion throughout her stay there. Lorraine would often comment on how pleased she was and happy to be there.
