Leroy Peter Casetta of West Bend passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the age of 85, from complications of cancer. He was born February 6, 1929, to the late Peter and Edna (nee Hanson) Casetta in Almon Township, WI. On June 27, 1953, he married Joan (nee Williams) Casetta, settling in Glendale, WI to raise their family, before moving to West Bend in 1994.

Leroy graduated from Fond du Lac High School and then entered the United States Navy to serve in World War II at the age of 17. Following his service, he graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering before becoming an electrician (and a devoted member of IBEW Local 494 for 64 years). Since he and his wife moved to West Bend, Leroy was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the West Bend TOPS 1186, Moose Lodge 1398 and the West Bend American Legion Post 36. Through the years, Leroy took on many volunteer and leadership roles in both Milwaukee and West Bend. He especially loved being a 10 year volunteer reader as "Grandpa Leroy" for Mrs. Doll's class at Holy Angels School in West Bend. Leroy was previously an active and dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and was a heart transplant recipient (at St. Luke's in Milwaukee) in 1997. In 2012, he participated in the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight for World War II Veterans to Washington, DC, with his son, Curt, and with fellow WW II Veterans.

Leroy is survived by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Joan, dear children Cynthia (Robert) Graham of Palatine, Illinois, and Curtis Leroy (Jodi) Casetta of West Bend, a cherished and only grandson Joshua Graham, sisters-in-law June Casetta, Dorothy Johnson and Marge Williams. He is further survived by special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially his card-playing neighbors, his friendships from his churches and neighborhoods, and those from TOPS.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lloyd Casetta and sister Beverly (Dean) Bernarde.

Visitation will be from 10:30AM until 11:15AM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend). A Memorial Service will follow at 11:30AM at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darin Wiebe of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bowler, WI.
