Leonard "Bud" Walter, age 89/22.5 of West Bend passed away on October 12, 2013 at Cedar Lake Campus. Bud was born on February 29, 1924 in Mauston, Wisconsin to Leonard and Inez Walter. Upon graduation from High School in 1942, Bud enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served during WWII through 1946.
Bud married Alice Stehlik in Kenosha, WI. Bud and Alice moved to West Bend in the early 1950's to raise their family. He was the owner of Bud Walter Furniture and Floor Covering, later known as Walter's Carpet Gallery, currently owned by his son Steve. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting and refurbishing antiques, oil painting, and spending time at his family's homestead in Mauston, Wisconsin.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in-law, Josephine and Frank Stehlik, his brother Ben, sisters Geraldine and Lorraine, and his brother in-law George Stehlik.
Bud is survived by his wife Alice, sons Steve and Stuart (Jan), daughter Tracy (Colleen Maher), grandsons Ben (fiancée Heather Forsyth), Zachary (Anne), and Andrew (special friend, Nicole Rastello), and his great-grand daughter Joni Mae Walter.
A Funeral Service for Bud will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Dr. in West Bend with Rev. David Schoob presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:30 PM until 6:45 PM on Wednesday. Private interment will take place at Washington County Memorial Park.
