Obituary

Laverne E. McIntee (nee Fraedrich), age 91, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018. She was born on July 17, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Arnold and Emma (nee Kessler) Fraedrich. Laverne spent her younger years in Chicago, but lived on a farm in Nekoosa during her teen years and graduated from Nekoosa High School Class of 1945. She survived a tornado when it blew down the barn that she and her mother were in while milking cows. She worked at her parent's dance hall, the Hillside Pavilion, where she met her husband Jack. They were married on October 25, 1947 while Jack was still in the Air Force and was stationed at Smoky Hill Air Base in Salina, Kansas. In 1948, they returned to Wisconsin.

She had their three children, all born in Wisconsin Rapids, and then moved to Milwaukee for work. She was a factory worker most of her life working in the paper mills of Wisconsin Rapids, Cutler Hammer in Milwaukee, Power Products in Grafton, and Threshold in West Bend. She and her husband Jack owned McIntee Auto Salvage in Slinger, McIntee Chevrolet in Elroy and McIntee Auto Mart in Allenton. Before retiring at age 84, she was a part of the janitorial staff at Moraine Plastics in West Bend.

Laverne and her husband Jack traveled to Lake Havasu, Arizona during the winter for several years before his death in 1984 and they enjoyed a 25th anniversary trip to Switzerland, Italy and Yogoslavia in 1972.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family was a priority and she was always there if you needed her. She loved babysitting for grandchildren Shawn, Christopher and Terri, and great-grandson Daniel when they were young. She was a loving pet-sitter to Skipper and MacTavish.

Laverne enjoyed flower gardening, crafting, watching game shows on TV, working on picture puzzles, playing cards and spending time with the family, but one of her favorite pastimes was Bingo.

She is survived by her daughters, Marma McIntee, Dianne (Bruce) Kramer; son Patrick (Patricia) McIntee; grandson Shawn (Jamie McClendon) Erickson; great-grandson Daniel Erickson; sister-in-law Radine Sherman; other relatives and friends.

Laverne is preceded in death by her parents; husband Clair "Jack" McIntee; grandson Christopher McIntee; granddaughter Theresa McIntee; sister Marion Warning; brother Donald Fraedrich; sister-in-law Mary Snyder; brothers-in-law George Sherman and George Warning.
