Obituary

Laura L. Roecker (nee Reinke) was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Laura was born on April 11, 1921 in the town of West Bend to Otto and Louise (nee Biegler) Reinke. Laura's baptism and confirmation took place at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Slinger. Laura's mother passed away when Laura was four years old. She was raised by a devoted father and two aunts in Pleasant Hill, WI. She married Franklin Roecker on October 26, 1940 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church.

Across the years, the Lord blessed their Christian marriage with the gift of four devoted children. In 1943, the family moved to Slinger and operated a dairy farm for 16 years. She assisted in serving for banquets at the Roth's Hotel in Slinger and was an Avon representative for many years. They were also part owners in Econo-Wash Laundry Mat in Slinger.

Laura was a warm, compassionate person who loved the Lord and had many friends. Her children and grandchildren loved her dearly. She had a wonderful sense of humor and didn't have a bad word to say about anyone. Laura loved to cook and loved company. She would be sure to make you something to eat as soon as you stepped into her home. Laura was active in her church and community. She taught Sunday school and also held offices for the ladies aide. She also worked in the maintenance department at the Slinger school system for many years.

Laura is survived by her children Dianne (Michael) Hess of Hartford, Darrell (Mary Ann) of Slinger, Debra Mertz of West Bend, and Denise (Brent) Johnson of Slinger; grandchildren James Hess of Hartford, Brian (Pamela) Hess of Danville, AL, Michael Hess, Jr. of Hartford, Kristine Hess of Hartford, Shannon (Deanna) Hess of Menasha, Darrell "Buddy" (Tami) Roecker of Waukesha, Stacey (Rev.
