Obituary
L. Carol Faber, nee Laufer, age 79, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Carol was born on April 26, 1935, in West Bend to the late Leona (nee Ganns) and Aloysius "Butch" Laufer.
Carol graduated from West Bend High School in 1953. She was raised in the Jackson area, and her early years were spent participating in her family's business, Laufer's Artistic Roller Rink. From 1972-1978, she and her husband Jerry operated J & C's Silver Lake Resort.
Carol lived her entire life in the West Bend area. She looked forward to their annual snowbird stay in Mesa, AZ for more than 15 yrs. Carol loved the warm climate in Mesa, and loved to crochet many winter articles for the church and those who needed them. She was an amazing cake decorator, baker and cook, and artist in her own right. Carol had a talent for being able to look at an article that she admired and able to replicate it with her crochet or knitting needles.
Carol was a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Church, West Bend.
Carol is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry", of almost 59 years; children Kerry (Mary) Faber of Kewaskum, Brian (Nancy) Faber of Milwaukee, Kandie (Kim) Darmody of Prior Lake MN, Penny (LaMont) Albers of West Bend; 11 grandchildren Kali, Kyle (Missy), Nicholas, Monica (fiancé Cody Recore), Gina, Amanda (Jared), Casey (Todd), Matthew (Angela), Witney, Paityn and Griffyn; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Austin and Courtney.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 W. Paradise Dr.), West Bend on Tuesday, December 30 at 6PM. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 3PM until the time of Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Lung Association for research of pulmonary fibrosis.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Horizon Hospice staff, especially Kim, Katie, Julie and Dawn for the compassionate care that they provided to Carol.
