IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julianne
Borges
September 21, 1936 – July 9, 2025
Julianne (Julie) Borges, of West Bend, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away on July 9, 2025 at the age of 87. Julie was born on September 21, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Allen and Lucy Ruedt. She grew up in Wauwatosa and attended Wauwatosa High School, where she made lifelong friends. While in high school, Julie met the love of her life (a Whitefish Bay boy!), William (Bill) Borges. The two married on November 29, 1957, and were lucky to have over five decades of love, laughter, and many animals!
Julie was active in the Milwaukee Junior League and on the Board of the Riveredge Nature Center. She volunteered at the Milwaukee County Zoo and was instrumental in the formation of the petting area of the children's zoo. Her love of animals led her to be one of the first llama breeders in Wisconsin. Along with Bill, and their friends and family, she enjoyed many years at their cottage on Lake Michigan.
Julie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Bill Borges, as well as her sister, Carolyn Starr, and grandson, Connor Vliet. Julie was the loving mother of Susan (Dan) Vliet and Elizabeth (John Kelm) Borges, and the proud Nana of Sally (Chris Hegwood), George, Emily and Jack, and great-Nana of Lucy and Henry Hegwood. She is further survived by her sister Rosalie (Tom) Zahn, and nieces and nephews, Tina (John) Wallen, Andy Zahn, Jeff (Laura) Starr, and Lynn (Mike) Krummey.
Private services will be held. Memorials in memory of Julie may be made to the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center.
