Judith A. Burkhalter (nee Bonis) "Judy", age 73, passed on Monday, October 6, at Community Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 25, 1941 in Milwaukee to Casimir Bonis and Hortense (nee Kienitz) Bonis. Judy was raised in Milwaukee and attended Holy Angels Academy (now Divine Savior Holy Angels). She met Kenneth in Milwaukee, and they married on September 8, 1962 in Milwaukee. Judy retired as an Employer's Account Representative and Union Representative from the Building Trades Pension Fund.
Judy appreciated all the joys of life including reading, enjoying the outdoors, going for walks, baking, going to the movies, and she had a love for music of all types from every era. She was a football fanatic of the Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and friends. She always had an open door and open heart for everyone, and everyone knew her as "mom". If you would like to honor mom, wear something blue; it was her favorite color.
Judy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Burkhalter; children John (Dee) Burkhalter, Cheryl Burkhalter, Susan (Andrew) Miller, Jane (Michael) Baker, Joseph (fiancé Erin Parchem) Burkhalter; grandchildren Jerry, Emilee, Brandon (fiancé Ashley), Jessica, Donterrius, Wesley, and Ashley; great-grandchildren Melanie Rose and Nathan (on the way); sister-in-law Helen Bonis; Godchild Patrice (Chris) Thorin and their children Amanda and Amy and Godchild Terri Koca; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Casimir and Hortense (nee Kienitz) Bonis, brother Michael Bonis, and her dog Molly.
