Joseph Robert Schmitt, age 62 of West Bend passed away December 29, 2022, at his residence. He was born March 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, the son of Janice (Wolf) and Robert Schmitt.

Joe was raised in Richfield, Wisconsin and attended Germantown High School. He married Angel Shukla October 5, 1985 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, Wisconsin. Joe was a heavy equipment operator for 37 years at Heitman's, Inc.

His grandkids were the light of his life and meant the world to him. He was the champ of bean bag boards. He thoroughly enjoyed ice fishing in the shack with his sons. He was always willing to give a hand to anyone in need.

Joe is survived by his wife Angel, sons, Timothy (Rebecca Frank) and William (Brittany Timblin), grandchildren, Henry, Beau and a third grandchild expected in July, sister, Cindy (Scott) Knoll, brother, Kenny (Rachelle) Schmitt, brothers-in-law, John Wollman, Tony Shukla, nieces & nephews, Ryan (Sarah) Schmitt, Adam (Heather Stange) Schmitt, Kendall, Sawyer and Mason Shulka. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Elizabeth (Liz) Wollman, brother, Peter Schmitt, father-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Shulka, stepfather-in-law, Ken Nelson, mother-in-law, Sandy Nelson and his grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, January 29, 2023 from noon-4pm at the VFW Hall Post #1393, 260 Sand Dr., West Bend, WI 53095.
